This entry is waaaaay overdue.

I bought myself a new motorbike, a big trail. It's a Honda XRV750, also known as Africa Twin. Bought it on Feb 26^th and I'm completely in love with it.

That's the good part.

The bad part is that I've been on the edge again for the last 3 or 4 weeks (or more?). That nano-thin layer of "just ok" over something really bad. But it's late and I won't rave on about it tonig... erm... this dawn.


As for my latest deviations... in case any of you are wondering why all you see is a black rectangle, the explanation is quite simple (but long):

- my earlier ASCII submissions were GIFs with black letters on a transparent background and my latest ASCII submissions were PNGs with silver letters on a black background;

- I decided I should make things more uniform and tried to re-submit the latest ones as transparent GIFs with the same cute preview, but for some reason, I got a message saying that GIF isn't a valid format for the type of deviation I'm submitting;

- PNG also supports transparency, so I tried to upload the new files with a preview, but the option for a preview was suddenly gone, so I just uploaded the new transparent PNGs (and got black rectangles);

- asked the helpdesk about it:

"There is a problem with transparent PNGs' thumbnails. It's a known issue, but it works fine in full view."
"Due to user abuses, previews are no longer available."

If it's possible (and in some cases mandatory, due to format limitations) to upload a preview for a GIF image, it should also be possible for transparent PNGs' (due to format limitations, or should I say known issue?)!!

And why isn't GIF a valid format for submitting 2-colour screenshots of letters, but a JPG or PNG is? Right...
