The news! The olds!

Lately I've been on the edge, with a nano-thin layer of alright over a no so alright core. Today again, the layer desintegrated, leaving me no so alright. Nothing serious, just down.

I spent the day at home (my parent's), with the car at the workshop and the bike 35km away, at my place.

I don't know if the main power switch at my place has been fixed or not. It probably has, on sunday, 'cause it went out last saturday night, but I doubt if the electrician or my landlady ever thought of plugging back on the fridge.

Given the cold (together with the non-existent insulation) and the electric and plumbing annoyances, I've considered for the first time buying a real house, although I really love this one (but it's not a real house).

Haven't ridden my motorbike in over 2 weeks and I miss it, but I'm over here and the bike is over there or the weather is too damn cold at 6h20 in the morning to get out of bed, let alone ride the bike to work...

I've been meaning to get a new bike for over 6 months, but it's been proving itself difficult, because I'm too short for the bikes I really want and so I can't make up my mind.

Work goes more or less and, although the schedules are now better than they were, the perspectives have been better than they are.

The wind is blowing wildly from south, with sudden strong bursts, which have managed to knock down a plant on the varanda, together with the vase. We've left it as it is, as it looks safer like that.

So no, the electrician hadn't gone there on Sunday.
Neither Monday, nor Tuesday. I arrived home Wednesday night to find everything in the dark and a nauseating pool of watery goo (from the defrosted goods in the freezer) soaking the carpet. Swell...

The next day I told this to my landlord (sweet old man) who truly knew nothing of it, although I had told his wife about it on Saturday night. I was beyond anger and he promised he'd talk to the guy that same evening (which he probably did) and it was fixed on Friday, almost a week later.

As for the car... Well, I got the car back on Tuesday and drove to Meco on Wednesday. On Thursday, just after the little chitchat with my landlord, I drove to Lisbon, to work. And the little red light indicating overheating... lit up again!! So I was really pissed off by then, especially after paying 89€ for a new water thermostat (sp?).

On friday night I went out with 2 colleagues from work and 2 other friends and Sofia gave me a lift to Meco, so at least I got my bike back.

I spent Christmas without a car, but now it's running ok (+300€ later).

You sound a bit down, girl... I'd very much like to arrange for a meeting so that I could finally borrow that book you talked about, but things have been a bit too eclectic for me lately. I'm working at a new school and giving tuition lessons at two different places. Also I'm having German lessons on Saturdays in the morning! Neverthless I hope we can meet some time soon.

That'd be swell.

I'm better now and I've decided myself for a new bike (the model, only the model), although it might be way too big for me.

Check out my calendar...
